[BARN341] Johel/Judael FitzAlured, one of the leaders of the Breton forces on the Norman side at the time of the Conquest, married [PICQ342] --- (daughter of Count Arnoul, see PICQUIGNY above, [though the dating seems adrift]).  He held lands in Devon, and also the manor of Froxton in Cornwall. He was expelled from Totnes (c.1088) for supporting the rebellion against King William II, and this lordship was then granted to Roger de Nonant (born at Nonant-le-Pin, Orne, Normandy, c.1058), whose family then held Totnes for a further three generations, when it was returned to one of Johel's descendants,  William de Briouze (c.1199). Meanwhile Johel was granted Barnstaple lordship.
