[CANO311] Sigefredo di Lucca, installed in Lombardy (940) and built the castle at Canossa.

[CANO321] Adalberto Azzo (born c.925, younger son of Sigefredo), Count of Reggio and Modena, married Ildegarde. He died 13th February 987-88.

Adalberto held the castle at Canossa. Here he welcomed (September 951) Adelheid, the widow of  King Lothair of Italy (died 950), who had run away from the castle at Garda, in which EMPEROR BERENGAR II had imprisoned her. As a result of Adalberto's help, EMPRESS ADELHEID was able to marry (October/November 951) EMPEROR OTTO I (see SAXONY DUKEDOM)
