There is a discrepancy concerning [POWY282] Nest (ferch Cadell ap Brochwel).
According to the genealogies of Jesus College, she was the wife of [GWY1271] Merfyn frych and mother of [GWYN289] Rhodri mawr. But according to the expanded "Hanesyn Hen" tract she was the mother of Merfyn Frych and therefore wife of [GWY1261] Gwriad.
Bartrum (1993) states "although both versions are chronologically possible, the latter version which makes Esyllt the wife of Merfyn is preferable as, according to the "Annales Cambriae", Cynan Dindaethwy died in 816 while Merfyn died in 844, so that Cynan is more likely to have been the father-in-law of Merfyn rather than his grandfather".
