[LENS342] Judith de Lens m1. [NTHM331] Earl Waltheof of Northumberland . . [LENS343] Lady Judith of Lens m1. [TAIL321] Ivo Taillebois
[LENS331] Lambert (son of [BOUL321] Count Eustace I, see BOULOGNE COUNTY), Count of Lens in Northern France, married (1053-54) [NORM338] Adelais (illegitimate daughter of DUKE ROBERT I, see NORMANDY DUKEDOM). Adelize had previously married 1. Count Enguerrand II, see PONTHIEU & MONTREUIL COUNTY, (killed at Siege of Chateau d'Arques, October 1053). Lambert was slain at Phalampin at the Battle of Lille (1054). Afterwards Adelize married 3. (c.1058) [AUMA331] Count Eudes III, see AUMALE COUNTY). In the Domesday Survey, Adeliza (styled Countess of Aumale) held land in Essex and Suffolk.
[LENS342] Judith (born 1054, daughter of Adelize) married 1. [NTHM331] Earl Waltheof (see NORTHUMBRIA (SIWARD) EARLDOM). It is possible that Adeliza was pregnant with Judith when Enguerrand was killed in 1053, though it is here assumed that Lambert was Judith's father. In the Domesday Survey, Countess Judith held land in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Huntingdonshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Rutland. Waltheof was executed 31st May 1076, and afterwards Judith married 2. (c.1077) [TAIL321] Yves de Taillebois (see TAILLEBOIS).
[SETO411] Seier (possibly eldest son of Lambert), of Lens, is dealt with under SETOUN BARONY.
