PALAEOLOGI

The originator of this family was a Byzantine Jew, named John, who took the surname Palaeologus. Interestingly one direct descendant (ten generations later) inherited the same Empire which had earlier conquered their ancestral home. This was EMPEROR MICHAEL VIII (1261-82). Even earlier, [PALG352] Irene (below) had married Isaac II Angelus who afterwards became EMPEROR ISAAC II (1185).

[PALG311] Nikephorus Palaeologus, died c.1081.

[PALG321] George Palaeologus (born c.1070) married [DUCA313] Princess Ana Ducaina (daughter of EMPEROR CONSTANTINE X, see DUCAS (2)).

[PALG331] Alexius Palaeologus (born c.1100) married [COMN343] Ana Ducaina Comnena (daughter of Alexius, see COMNENIAN DYNASTY).

[PALG341] George Comnenodukas Palaeologus (born c.1125) married [OSSE342] Princess Aspae (daughter of King David IV, see OSSETIA KINGDOM). George died 1167.

[PALG352] Irene Comnenodukaina Palaeologina (daughter of George Comnenodukas) married [ANGE351] Isaac II Angelus (see ANGELUS DYNASTY).
