[PRES621] John Prescott m. [WRHT622] Margaret Wright
. [PRES432] Ellen Prescott m. [HOUG641] Thomas Houghton
. [PRES631] William Prescott m. [BRIT632] Margery Britch

[PRES621] John Prescott married by licence (at Childwall, 29th April 1700) [WRHT622] Margaret Wright (born 1675, see WRIGHT), both of Cronton. They had three children born at Cronton, and baptised at Farnworth as follows:

John  (baptised 3rd July 1707), married Elizabeth;

[PRES631] William (baptised 10th June 1711), married Margery Britch, see later;

Helen (baptised 17th June 1715).

Margaret, wife of John, died at Cronton (buried at Farnworth, 29th July 1699). A John Prescott (yeoman, of Cronton, buried at Farnworth, 7th May 1708), but he was of another family. He is of interest as he appointed "John Prescott of Cronton my Kinsman and godson" to be the executor of his will. It would appear likely he was referring to his nephew John.

[PRES631] William Prescott (born 1711) married (at St. Helens, 15th September 1734) [BRIT632] Margery Britch (born 1716, see BRITCH), both of this parish. They had seven children as follows:

Elizabeth (born at Prescot,  22nd August 1736, baptised at St. Helens, 22nd August 1736);

John (born at Widnes, baptised at Farnworth, 4th November 1739);

William (born at Farnworth, baptised at Farnworth, 12th February 1741-42);

Alexander (born at Farnworth, baptised at Farnworth, 21st October 1744). Note: Alexander was named for his maternal grandfather;

[PRES642] Ellen (born at Farnworth, baptised at Farnworth, 17th September 1746), married Thomas Houghton, see later;

Richard (born at Farnworth, baptised at Farnworth, 6th August 1749);

Thomas (born at Farnworth, baptised at Farnworth, 21st August 1752);

William was recorded as being a linen weaver (1736).

[PRES642] Ellen Prescott (born 1746, daughter of William) married (at Rainford, 26th September 1770) [HOUG641] Thomas Houghton (born 1748, see HOUGHTON).
