RHODES (CLOTHIER/WEAVER) OF BRADFORD

The events prior to 1786 have been based on the assumption that the baptism of Joshua Crabtree Rhodes in 1802 is indicative of an earlier marriage between a Rhodes and a Crabtree. It is assumed this would have been the one between John Rhodes and Sarah Crabtree, in 1764, particularly as Sarah Crabtree's father was Joshua Rhodes.

Joshua Crabtree Rhodes' parents were Joshua Rhodes and Hannah Rhodes, but it has proved impossible so far to positively identify which Rhodes family was which. It seems likely that Joshua Rhodes was from Todmorden, and that it was Hannah Rhodes whose mother had been Sarah Crabtree. However, Hannah's baptism has not been found. On the assumption the Joshua Rhodes was born say 1765, and that his wife Hannah Rhodes was born say 1766, the following facts will "fit" provided the Nancy Rhodes born 1766 has become this Hannah Rhodes.
