RIGBY

[RIGB611] William Rigby married (at Huyton, 7th December 1699), Sarah Garnett. They had four children, as follows:

Mary (born at Farnworth, 15th June 1700, baptised there 23rd June 1700);

[RIGB621] William (born at Cronton, baptised at Farnworth, 22nd November 1702) married Catherine, see later;

Thomas (baptised at Huyton, 2nd April 1711);

Sarah (baptised at Huyton, 18th April 1714).

[RIGB621] William Rigby (born 1702, son of William) and Catherine had six children born at St. Helens and baptised there at the New Chapel Independent as follows:

[RIGB632] Mary (baptised 8th September 1736), married Thurstan Vouce, see later;

William (baptised 31st January 1737-38);

John (baptised 5th November 1739);

Ann (baptised 11th September 1741);

Giles (baptised 12th December 1743);

an unnamed daughter (15th baptised March 1745-46).

Another version is as follows:

William (baptised at Farnworth, 20th March 1729);

[RIGB632] Mary (baptised at Huyton, 20th May 1733), married Thurstan Vouce, see later;

Catherine (baptised at Huyton, 6th July 1735);

Jane (baptised at Huyton, 20th August 1738), mother's name was Mary.

There were two William Rigby's who married a Catherine at Wigan in the 1730's. Assuming these were not the same William, then the first marriage (to Catherine Gaskill, 2nd October 1732) could relate to this St. Helens family, whilst the second marriage (to Catherine Winson, 23rd September 1739) could relate to the family at Billinge who had children 1742-46.

Catherine "wife of William of Huyton" died at Huyton (buried at Rainford, 30th May 1789), and William (a husbandman) died at Knowsley (buried at Rainford, 20th July 1791).

[RIGB632] Mary Rigby (born 1733-36, daughter of William), of St. Helen's, married (at Rainford, 21st August 1754) [VOSE631] Thurstan Vouce (born 1729, see VOSE), of Rainford, a husbandman.
